Rat Race Dirty Weekend – Burghley House

Our first event of the year was the Rat Race Dirty Weekend where we were responsible for the event village & technical production with Ocean Colour Scene headlining to 5000 screaming fans.

Teh Dirty Weekend consisted of a 20 mile cross country race with all sorts of obstacles throughout (produced by our good friends at Gorilla). Following the run most of the competitors got some well earned sleep before heading back to the arena to drink the bar dry and enjoy the music.

Del A Soul announced for Standon Calling

De La Soul are the first headliners to be announced for 2013′s Standon Calling festival.

The New York rappers will perform at the event’s 13th installment, which takes place in the grounds of Standon Lordship manor house in Standon, Hertfordshire, from August 2 to 4 next year.

De La Soul’s debut album ’3 Feet High and Rising’ was named NME‘s Album Of The Year in 1989. Earlier this year, the band’s Plug 2/Dave and Plug 1/Pos
unveiled side project First Serve, stepping into character as Deen Whitter and Jacob ‘Pop Life’ Barrow.

Described as “the soundtrack to a movie that has yet to be made and a fable for our times”, the album tells the story of Deen and Jacob, two childhood friends living in Queens, New York with dreams of making it big in the music world. The album was released on April 2.

Creamfields 2012

Well the nice dry weekend we were hoping for never appeared. Creamfields… it was an experience. The build started off well with most of the site being marked out within a couple of days. As the build progressed the weather conditions worsened as did the ground conditions. Unfortunately late on Saturday night there was a torrential downpour which inevitably meant that the conditions became unsafe for the public and the show was cancelled. The break was tough but we managed to get the site clear.

Standon Calling 2012

Standon was a success. The Festival is growing and numbers increased from last year. The brand new Meantime Tree Stage which was revealed as a surprise on Friday evening was a very popular new addition to the festival with the likes of Toddla T headlining on the Friday and Julio Bashmore on the Saturday. On the main stage the mesmerising Death in Vegas headlined the Friday, the festival circuit staple Beardyman was the highlight of the Saturday and Fat Freddy’s Drop finishing the festival off with a bang. We had a great time and we hope you did too, here’s to Standon 2013!

Onsite at Standon

significant lack of posts for sometime due to the fact that we have been super busy with Rockness, Bristol Pride and a crazy August coming up.

We are onsite at Standon Calling doing the build at the moment and all looking good, then its straight into Creamfields for 3 1/2 weeks then Bestival for 2 more before finally managing to take a breath towards the end of September.

Loudsound contract confirmed

We are delighted to be teaming up with Loudsound to deliver the site management of Rockness and Creamfields in 2012. Loudsound have been running these shows for years with great success and this year we are helping their in-house team deliver all the site logistics and planning.

Graham MacVoy says – “This will be the second year we are involved with Rockness and getting involved in the 60,000 Creamfields is a great step for GMC. We are looking forward to the challenges ahead and fingers crossed we get a nice dry weekend for Creamfields for a change”.

Onefest 2012 up and running

Onefest 2012, it’s the first out-door music festival of the year. It taps into the spirit and nature of this magical season and takes place on the 14th April in the heart of the ancient and famous Wiltshire countryside.

GMC are proud to be working on it again in 2012 and this small festival has not only grown but moved to a secret location north of Marlborough.

In 2011 Onefest was lucky enough to host Damien Rice, Laura Marling, the Magic Numbers and Dry the River on the main stage.

Onefest aims to attract the kind of major level artists who would never normally play such a small event and give our guests the opportunity to hear new material and have what can only be described as an intimate gig in an idyllic setting.

First acts to be announced are Dry the River (on BBC Sound of 2012 List), local legend Nick Harper, London folk groups Cut a Shine and Kidnap Alice.

Creamfields

Loudsound asked Graham to head up to Creamfields to look after the local liaison on the exterior of the site. My role ended up also including helping Greg and Dan in the car park as due to the horrendous weather over the August Bank holiday weekend it was a muddy affair in there as you can see from the shots.

Regardless of the weather Creamfields was another great success, sold out and no major incidents. Hopefully next year it will be warmer!

Bestival

As first timers to Bestival we were not quite sure what to expect, Bestival gets nothing but great reviews across the board so we were certainly excited. Our role down there was plant management, looking after the palnt and buggies throughout the show, to ensure they were working and in the correct place – with 40 buggies and 40 bits of machinery it was a busy couple of weeks.

We had a great time down there even though the weather was against us at times and Loudsound did another fantastic job of putting the show together.
